Today we’re going to take a look at some amazing works of abstract digital art that can help you get some inspiration.
Abstractism is a form of art which gained popularity in different parts of Europe during the twentieth century.
Abstract art intent was to move away from the depiction of real life and create art that was detached from an objective view of reality.
With abstract art the artist represent his feelings using forms, lines and colors with no apparent connection with real life.
Wilhelm Worringer’s book “Abstraction and Empathy: A Contribution to the Psychology of Style”, written in 1908, is probably the most important historical book on the matter.
History aside, today we take a look at some modern abstract digital art, made (mostly) with the almighty Adobe Photoshop.

If you’re interested in expanding your knowledge on abstract art, you can check these books on the subject:
Painting Abstracts: Ideas, Projects and Techniques
The Art of Abstract Painting: A Guide to Creativity and Free Expression
Abstracts: 50 Inspirational Projects
These three books have been written by Rolina van Vliet, and they are a must have for any person interested in abstract art.
Actually, they are a must have for any designer who wants to improve his skills, because they offer a lot of inspiration and insight that can then be implemented on design projects that are not necessarily about abstract art.
